Rite of the ring and rediscovery of the traditions that bind Cervia to its sea and involve locals and tourists.
Every year continuity is given to the vow, made in 1445 by the then bishop of Cervia Pietro Barbo when he found himself in the middle of a storm on his return from Venice, by sea. Legend has it that the bishop, on that occasion, pledged his pastoral ring to ask the waters to subside.

Like every year there will be a host city that will bring the ring as a gift for the wedding rite.
The Archbishop of the Diocese of Ravenna and Cervia goes out to sea on a fishing boat, blesses the Adriatic Sea and gives the waters a golden ring.
On Sunday, the ritual begins from the main square of Cervia, Piazza Garibaldi, where the historic procession takes place in which gentlemen, bishops, ladies and mayors parade in sumptuous period clothes. The procession parades through the streets of the center, along Viale Roma, the seafront up to the embarkation on the canal port to accompany the ring that will be launched into the sea, in the historic ceremony that recalls the marriage of the city with the waters of the Adriatic.
